Dashboard Confessional may be approaching 20 years in the scene, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at front man Chris Carrabba at Denver’s Summit Music Hall Tuesday night who seems to never age. Playing for hours a mixture of songs from the band’s 17-year discography, Carrabba joked that while some bands need to cut shows short because of “a lot of altitudes,” Dashboard added songs playing well into the school night. Colorado music festival eyed by producers of Coachella, Outside Lands

According to AEG consultant David Erlich, the companies are looking at a “couple of locations” in Denver specifically, including the Overland Golf Course. Massive music promoter AEG Live and festival producer Superfly are in talks to start a new music festival in Colorado in 2018. to discuss concerns regarding the festival. We’re starting the discussion and listening process and that’s going to guide how this goes.” Last year’s ballyhooed Vertex music festival, which was organized by AEG, was nixed for 2017 after complaints from its residential neighbors in the small mountain town of Buena Vista. Photo by Seth McConnell, heyreverb.com. 1 at 6 p.m. San Francisco’s Outside Lands will serve as a guide for the new festival, which would combine music, food, culture and a nonprofit component. “We take it very seriously. “70,000 people come each day to Outside Lands, so that would be an ultimate goal,” Erlich said. Fans at day two of Riot Fest Denver. The City of Denver and the various neighborhood associations surrounding the Overland Golf Course will convene at Ruby Hill’s Schmitt Elementary School on Feb. After being moved twice, Denver’s Snowball music festival has been cancelled the last two years in a row and has stayed mum so far in 2017. Organizers already met with reps from Overland Park on Monday night, which Erlich said “went well.”
“If you look, AEG has every right to be very proud of how they’ve worked in community and wouldn’t do this if they wouldn’t end up in similar situation,” Erlich said. “But not at the beginning. This festival won’t suffer the same fate, Erlich said, citing the festival’s eagerness to work with city officials and local residents on issues that have plagued past festivals. We would be more conservative than that.”
Erlich declined to comment on the specific financial investment AEG and Superfly would put into the festival, save to call it “hefty.”
Recently, large scale music festivals looking to stake down in Colorado have had little success. In 2014, internet comedy site Chive threw a one-and-done festival in City Park.
